The Goodlark Educational Foundation is a private charitable organization with the mission of increasing educational opportunities for the citizens of Dickson, Hickman and Humphreys Counties in Tennessee.
Established in 1988 with proceeds from the Goodlark Medical Center, the foundation funds more than sixty college, technical and graduate school scholarships annually (totalling over $85,000 per year). In addition, we offer free counseling services to help students of all ages with the process of selecting a college and securing funding. (Check out the College Help section on this website or call our office for assistance.) We give scholarships to the valedictorians of the six area high schools, and sponsor a yearly essay contest for high school juniors with scholarship prizes of $1,750. Over the years, we have supported many area educational programs such as Imagination Library, G.A.M.E. and New Directions Academy as well as individual projects at area schools. In 2011, the Goodlark Foundation gave grants to McEwen High School to implement school-wide computer access and to license ACT Prep review software, to Stuart Burns and Oakmont Elementary schools to install Model Classrooms, and to Dickson Academy to purchase computers.
Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, the foundation will introduce two special scholarships. The Anne Deason Healthcare Scholarship will be awarded annually to a rising college junior, senior or graduate student in a health-related field. At the discretion of the Goodlark Board of Directors, this scholarship could be as much as $5,000 per year. The Dr. Bill and Emily Jackson Medical Scholarship will be a multiyear scholarship of up to $10,000 annually, awarded to a student from our area who is attending medical school.
